But do you know that the U.S. saw mill processed 7.1 million board-feet of lumber in 2001 alone? If that is the case, imagine the magnitude when considering all the saw mills world wide.

Of course, some of this colossal waste thus discarded is reprocessed into particle board or into wood pellets for stoves.

Wood waste is a big threat to the environment when it is allowed to rot. So, what if we burn it and convert the heat generated into electricity?

Yes, it is feasible, it's already in practice -- a 14-megawatt wood waste power plant is being built in Nigeria using the saw dust.

Every Indian should know their ancestors who have contributed a lot to India and to the world. Indians should be proud of their ancestors whom the western world look upon with reverence.


I got hold of several ancient Indians' profile and picture and I will write about them here in this blog. I take immense pride in sharing them with you.

MASTER ASTRONOMER AND MATHEMATICIAN
Born in 476 CE in Kusumpur (Bihar), Aryabhatt's intellectual brilliance remapped the boundaries of mathematics and astronomy. In 499 CE, at the age of 23, he wrote a text on astronomy and an unparallel treatise on mathematics called "Aryabhatiyam."
He formulated the process of calculating the motion of planets and the time of eclipses. Aryabhatt was the first to proclaim that the earth is round, it rotates on its axis, orbits the sun and is suspended in space - 1000 years before Copernicus published his heliocentric theory.
He is also acknowledged for calculating p (Pi) to four decimal places: 3.1416 and the sine table in trigonometry. Centuries later, in 825 CE, the Arab mathematician, Mohammed Ibna Musa credited the value of Pi to the Indians, "This value has been given by the Hindus."
And above all, his most spectacular contribution was the concept of zero without which modern computer technology would have been non-existent. Aryabhatt was a colossus in the field of mathematics.

We have all been crying for lighter traffic but we continue to buy larger vehicles and at the same time putting the blame on the Government for congested roads.What can they do?

In India, mobile ice cream shops roam around the city irrespective of the weather conditions. Parched throats eagerly wait for the ice cream vendor to come rolling his stock and announcing his arrival by either bell or cry out aloud.

They are still there. Obviously, they are not yet exposed to micro blogging medias like Twitter.

But, it is not so in LA. Coolhaus sells handmade ice cream sandwiches from a pink and chrome converted postal jeep. Since the ice cream is delicious, it has a huge customer base.

Since it is a mobile ice cream shop, Coolhaus announces the daily location of sales through Twitter.The followers of Coolhaus seem to literally follow Coolhaus.
