A ghost in Colombo general hospital?

Hospital staff and general public feared that a ghost may have been the cause for several death in the Colombo General Hospital's Intensive Care ward where patients always died in the same bed and on all Sunday mornings at 11 A.M m, regardless of their medical condition.

This is mysterious really! Anybody would have suspected some foul play.

Like you and I, the doctors were also puzzled and thought that of involvement some supernatural power.

One day, just before the ghostly hour of 11 AM, the hospital doctors and nurses waited outside the intensive care ward. They held their breath and even prayed.

Then the clock struck 11...

And then......

Sumanadasa, the part-time Sunday sweeper, entered the ward, unplugged the life support system & plugged in the vacuum cleaner.........

Ancient Indians-Nagarjuna-Wizard Of Chemical Science

Ancient Indians-Nagarjuna-Wizard Of Chemical Science. This man may not be so well known among the present generation of Indians-especially among Indian students but it was so when I was a student.

We as students of science revered him and talked about him. We mentioned him in our exam papers.

He was an extraordinary wizard of science born in the nondescript village of Baluka in Madhya Pradesh. His dedicated research for twelve years produced maiden discoveries and inventions in the faculties of chemistry and metallurgy.

Textual masterpieces like "Ras Ratnakar," "Rashrudaya" and "Rasendramangal" are his renowned contributions to the science of chemistry. Where the medieval alchemists of England failed, Nagarjuna had discovered the alchemy of transmuting base metals into gold.

As the author of medical books like "Arogyamanjari" and "Yogasar," he also made significant contributions to the field of curative medicine. Because of his profound scholarliness and versatile knowledge, he was appointed as Chancellor of the famous University of Nalanda. Nagarjuna's milestone discoveries impress and astonish the scientists of today.

Amazing exhibition of skill.

Unimaginable feat by this Chinese at a pool table. You would have never seen or heard about such extraordinary talent any where in the world.

I wonder how he is not known to the world. Why he is not already famous?

If he performs frequently, all over the world, I am sure he will become an instant celebrity.

Milk and honey bath in Mexico.

-->Milk Bath

My son burst out laughing when I told him what is in store for him at Azul Beach Hotel in Riviera Maya where he gifted us with a romantic cancun vacation on account of our 25th wedding anniversary.

The revamped hotel has turned family friendly all inclusive resort. They take extra care of parents and they provide baby milk heaters and coloring books in the room.

My 22 year joined my amusement and ensured that we (I and my husband) both like the arrangements he made with Karisma Hotels though we both are not beach buffs. My favored destination is always the mountains and forests.

However the thought of lazing around in hammocks under the shade of tropical trees with lots of beach butlers hovering around to serve Mexican tequila, enthused me and I started looking forward to the trip.

Ah yes, another interesting thing in Riviera Maya that I am looking forward to is the milk bath that is offered as part of the body treatment that also includes a thermal mud massage. I hope it will be a milk and honey bath.

I must remember to take my best camera.

The most effective prevention of Swine Flu.

Every country's ancient scientists that were never known to the world have discovered ways to treat epidemics of the future also.

But we, the ever skeptics refuse to acknowledge the genius of our ancestors and depend only on unsolicited and unqualified opinions.

Fennel Seed Treatment Claimed Effective to Prevent Swine Flu
Sharjah: Drinking a decoction made of fennel seeds soaked in warm water first thing in the morning could prevent you from catching swine flu says a study published in a Chinese medical research magazine.

According to report published in Al Khaleej a local Arabic daily, the study has resulted in an increase of fennel seeds sales by 50 per cent in some Asian countries.
The report read that similar increase in sales was also visible in countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The fennel seed warm drink is being distributed to people who are making pilgrimage to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

Ancient Indians-Acharya Kanad.

ACHARYA KANAD (600 BCE)

FOUNDER OF ATOMIC THEORY

As the founder of "Vaisheshik Darshan" one of six principal philosophies of India - Acharya Kanad was a genius in philosophy. He is believed to have been born in Prabhas Kshetra near Dwarika in Gujarat.

He was the pioneer expounder of realism, law of causation and the atomic theory. He has classified all the objects of creation into nine elements, namely: earth, water, light, wind, ether, time, space, mind and soul.

He says, "Every object of creation is made of atoms which in turn connect with each other to form molecules." His statement ushered in the Atomic Theory for the first time ever in the world, nearly 2500 years before John Dalton.

Kanad has also described the dimension and motion of atoms and their chemical reactions with each other. The eminent historian, T.N. Colebrook, has said, "Compared to the scientists of Europe, Kanad and other Indian scientists were the global masters of this field."

His theory reminds of the magnificent quantum physics to me that says every object is created by our observation alone.

Ancient Indians-a genius in Algebra.

BHASKARACHARYA II (1114-1183 CE)

Born in the obscure village of Vijjadit (Jalgaon) in Maharastra, Bhaskaracharya's work in Algebra, Arithmetic and Geometry catapulted him to fame and immortality. His renowned mathematical works called "Lilavati" and "Bijaganita" are considered unparallel and a memorial to his profound intelligence.

It’s translation in several languages of the world bear testimony to its eminence. In his treatise "Siddhant Shiromani" he writes on planetary positions, eclipses, cosmography, mathematical techniques and astronomical equipment.

In the "Surya Siddhant" he makes a note on the force of gravity: "Objects fall on earth due to a force of attraction by the earth. Therefore, the earth, planets, constellations, moon, and sun are held in orbit due to this attraction."

Bhaskaracharya was the first to discover gravity, 500 years before Sir Isaac Newton. He was the champion among mathematicians of ancient and medieval India. His works fired the imagination of Persian and European scholars, who through research on his works earned fame and popularity.
